Trusted Pump Boss Turns Bandit: Manager, 3 Others Nabbed for Armed Robbery
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended four individuals, including a fuel station manager, over alleged involvement in an armed robbery syndicate operating in parts of the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to a police source who spoke with Saturday PUNCH, the suspects—identified as Noble Saint Neokoro (44), Batomie Samson (48), Abubakar Ali (47), and Bitrus Ibrahim (42)—were arrested in the Ejigbo area following a tip-off and subsequent discreet investigation.
“The manager of the filling station was among those arrested. Preliminary findings suggest the station’s owner was unaware of the alleged criminal activities. The suspects have reportedly confessed to being part of a robbery gang,” the source revealed.
Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the operation was carried out by the Tactical Squad Hawk unit of the command. He noted that the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) played a crucial role in tracking down and apprehending the fuel station manager.
Hundeyin added that the operation followed the earlier arrest of a notorious gang specialising in hijacking fuel and goods-laden trucks across Lagos.
On June 28, the command confirmed the arrest of seven suspects linked to the hijacking of a fuel tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The tanker driver had reported the hijack at the Surulere Police Division.
“Prompt police response and intelligence-led investigation led to the recovery of the empty tanker in Orile and the arrest of the suspects at a fuel station in Ejigbo, where the stolen fuel was being discharged,” Hundeyin explained.
The arrested suspects were named as Izuchukwu Nwanoruo, Kayode Falodun, Ojo Ayodele, Ayomide Thompson, Ahmed Saliu, Igbalaye Kareem, and Babatunde Ahmed. A separate tanker used in transporting the stolen fuel was also recovered as evidence.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the operatives for their swift action and reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos.
He further encouraged members of the public to continue sharing timely and useful information with law enforcement to aid ongoing security efforts. Hundeyin concluded that all suspects would be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
