In a press statement issued on Friday by its Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, the party expressed profound grief over the killing of 15 residents and the injury of seven others during the Lakurawa attack earlier in the week.

“The PDP Sokoto State Chapter is both shocked and outraged by the Lakurawa terrorist assault on Kwalajiya village in Tangaza. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the 15 innocent souls lost and the seven others who sustained injuries,” the statement read in part.

The party urged security agencies to launch an immediate and thorough manhunt for the attackers and ensure they are brought to justice. It also called on the Sokoto State Government to urgently bolster security presence in the area to prevent further violence and assist affected residents with relief support.

Expressing solidarity with the Tangaza community, the PDP pledged its unwavering support during this painful period and emphasized that the protection of lives must remain a top priority for all levels of government.

The statement further urged the Federal Government to adopt more decisive and sustained measures in addressing the worsening security situation, not just in Sokoto, but across Nigeria.

“This latest attack is one too many. We call on the Federal Government to rise to its constitutional duty of safeguarding lives and property,” it added.

Reaffirming its commitment to standing with all communities affected by violence, the PDP called for a united national front to defeat the scourge of terrorism and banditry ravaging the country.
