In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the council’s chairman, Ibrahim Adigun, the NYCN also lauded President Bola Tinubu’s administration for enacting policies that encourage industrial expansion and economic growth.
Adigun revealed that the council recently conducted an economic assessment of the Tinubu administration through its Directorate of Petroleum and Solid Minerals, led by Sheriff Lamidi.
Describing the Dangote Refinery as a “landmark achievement” in the nation’s industrial advancement, the council praised its potential to cut fuel importation, bolster foreign exchange reserves, and generate employment opportunities.
“The Dangote Refinery stands as a monumental breakthrough in Nigeria’s industrial trajectory,” the statement read. “It exemplifies how private sector innovation can flourish under an enabling policy environment.”
The NYCN further applauded President Tinubu’s economic reforms — particularly the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of foreign exchange rates — noting that these steps have helped create a more conducive environment for investment and private sector growth.
It also acknowledged the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and human capital enhancement as essential pillars of long-term economic stability.
Highlighting the refinery’s employment impact, the council cited the creation of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, as well as the training of skilled professionals in advanced oil and gas technologies — a move aligned with the national agenda for youth empowerment and skills development.
“Through initiatives like the Dangote Refinery, the Tinubu administration is laying the groundwork for economic self-reliance and industrial sustainability,” the council said.
The NYCN also praised the refinery’s compliance with environmental standards and its investments in host communities, stating that such efforts reflect a strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
Calling on other private investors to emulate the Dangote Group’s model, the council urged all stakeholders to rally behind the current reform efforts and contribute meaningfully to national development.
“We must continue to build strong partnerships between visionary leadership and private enterprise. That is the path to unlocking Nigeria’s full economic potential,” the statement concluded.
The NYCN reaffirmed its dedication to advancing youth inclusion in nation-building and pledged its unwavering support for initiatives that drive sustainable growth and progress.
