Power Grab in Motion – Ologbondiyan Accuses APC of Strong-Arming PDP Governors”
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has alleged that governors elected on the party’s platform are being coerced into defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ologbondiyan made the claim during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, in response to the recent defections of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno to the APC. Both governors had cited the PDP’s internal crisis as their reason for leaving.
He also referenced the peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the suspended Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, describing it as a political setback for the PDP.
While acknowledging that the party made both positive and negative efforts in the Rivers crisis, Ologbondiyan insisted that defections are not driven solely by internal disputes but by external pressure from the APC.
“Our governors are being harassed and humiliated,” he said. “Whether they admit it or not, they are being forced to leave the PDP for the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s party.”
He urged the PDP to move beyond the Rivers saga and concentrate on shielding its governors from further political intimidation ahead of the 2027 general election.
