The Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Oba AbdulFatai Oyegbemi, has removed six traditional chiefs from their positions for allegedly violating palace protocol by impersonating him at a Labour Party campaign flag-off event in Apapa, Lagos State—an appearance reportedly made without his consent.

Those affected include Chief Lateef Ojora (Bale Alaba Oro), Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale Alafia Dodoro), Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale Oke Ira), Chief Idris Ojora (Bale Abule Kere), Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale Mosafejo Amukoko), and Chief Sule Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere).

A statement issued on Tuesday confirmed their dismissal, with a stern warning that no chief in the kingdom is permitted to represent or act on behalf of the monarch without his express authorization.

“Following the incident, which took place without Kabiyesi’s knowledge, the Bales, Balogun, and members of the Ojora Council were summoned to the ancient palace for clarification,” the statement said.

In what was described as a tone of disappointment and firm authority, Oba Oyegbemi condemned their actions as a breach of duty. He emphasized that all chiefs are appointed to serve and represent the throne—not to make independent decisions or assume roles without consent.

“The dethronement of the six chiefs reflects Kabiyesi’s unwavering resolve to preserve the integrity and discipline of the kingdom’s traditional institution,” the statement concluded.
