Abdulkarim further stated that ADC members should consider supporting a joint ticket between Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, pointing to their strong grassroots followership.

He said: “Atiku will be 80 years old next year. We don’t want to defeat him… we know he is not going to win, so we are giving him a soft landing to withdraw from the ADC presidential primary so he can look good in the eyes of young Nigerians.

“That way, his name can be honoured by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Timing is everything in politics, and this is the time of the South. Age is not on his side.

“We have very strong movements—the Obidient movement and the Kwankwassiyya movement. Those around him are not telling him what they are supposed to be telling him.”

In his tribute, Adigun wrote: “The worst way to go into the weekend is hearing about Temisan Okomi’s passing. I’m so gutted and, at the same time, terrified. This man meant so much to me.”

The late Okomi worked with Classic FM 97.3 and had previously been associated with Lagos Television, HiTV, and other notable media organisations in Nigeria.

He said: “I think we have to be very realistic… we have seen what alliances have done. At times it’s necessary to look at the reality on the ground to achieve your goals.

“In the whole country now, it’s only Peter Obi and Kwankwaso that have organic followers. Those followers are ready. There’s a lot to benefit from it.

“It will help close ranks between northern and eastern Nigeria, and the entire southern part of the country.

“I believe Tinubu’s ticket will be dead on arrival once Peter Obi and Kwankwaso work together with support from other leaders.”
