This reaffirmation came at the conclusion of a two-day strategic regional retreat of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), which was held in Benin City, Edo State.
The high-level session, hosted by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, wrapped up on Saturday, June 28, 2025, with key resolutions addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic direction, intergovernmental collaboration, and the future of the APC.
Reading the communiqué at the end of the meeting, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, described the gathering as “a vital platform for harmonising development strategies, strengthening party unity, and reaffirming the Forum’s commitment to inclusive development, accountability, and federal-state synergy.”
A notable highlight of the meeting was the official welcome of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, into the APC.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Fred Itua, the Forum noted that Governor Eno’s defection—along with that of his supporters—signals a growing national alignment with the transformative policies of President Tinubu’s administration.
The Progressive Governors congratulated President Tinubu and his team, citing “broad-based support for his reform agenda across APC-controlled states.”
The Forum conducted an extensive review of the country’s “economic, social, security, and political landscape,” expressing satisfaction with the “renewed coordination between federal and sub-national governments—especially in fiscal reform, food security, energy transition, infrastructure development, and revitalisation of the social sector.”
According to the communiqué, “While current economic indicators point toward recovery, inclusive growth must be achieved through deeper investments in food security, employment, poverty alleviation, MSMEs, and social protection.”
The governors reiterated that sub-national governments remain pivotal to economic transformation and pledged to deepen decentralisation in accordance with Section 13 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which obligates all levels of government to promote citizens’ welfare.
On governance and investment, the Forum welcomed the increased fiscal allocations to states and the rising investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy, noting that “several APC-led states are now attracting significant levels of both local and foreign investment.”
They also pledged to strengthen procurement processes, digitise governance systems, and improve regulatory frameworks in a bid to accelerate infrastructure delivery, boost productivity, and enhance inter-state competitiveness.
Addressing the country’s security challenges, the PGF commended the efforts of security agencies and ongoing operations aimed at tackling criminal activities and preserving Nigeria’s sovereignty.

Mohammad Mokhber disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview on State TV, emphasizing that Tehran does not trust Washington and sees no grounds for dialogue.

“We will not enter into any negotiations with the US. The Americans cannot be trusted. We can sustain the war for as long as we choose,” he said.

Khamenei, who was 86 at the time of his death, is expected to be laid to rest in his hometown of Mashhad in northeastern Iran.

“Great reaction from the team today,” the AS Roma Women forward wrote on .
The Super Falcons will now shift their attention to preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
