This year’s CHAN marks Nigeria’s return to the tournament after missing the last two editions. Facing Senegal in their opening match will be a tough test for the Super Eagles, who are determined to make a bold statement on their comeback.
Nigeria’s second group game will be against Sudan on Tuesday, August 12, also at the Amman Stadium. They will round off their group-stage fixtures with a match against Congo on Tuesday, August 19, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The 2024 CHAN, reserved for players competing in their domestic leagues, will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The tournament runs from Saturday, August 2, to Saturday, August 30, showcasing the best of Africa’s home-based talent.
For Nigeria, this year’s competition is more than just a tournament—it’s a chance to reassert their dominance at the home-based level. After finishing as runners-up in 2018 but failing to qualify for the subsequent editions, the Super Eagles will view CHAN 2024 as a crucial path to redemption.
