According to a statement by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President is expected to participate in the official launch of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Programme, a flagship environmental initiative aimed at tackling deforestation, promoting biodiversity, and addressing climate change. The ambitious programme targets the planting of 20 billion tree seedlings over a four-year span.
Nkwocha noted that Shettima’s visit will also include a strategic tour of major industrial hubs and integrated agricultural facilities across Ethiopia, as part of efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in agribusiness and industrial development.
Some of the key facilities to be visited include the Adama Industrial Zone, Mojo Poultry Farm, Shera Dibandiba Mojo Family Integrated Farm, Lume Avocado Nursery Site, and the Bishoftu Pea Youth Farm.
The Ethiopian Prime Minister is also expected to host Shettima and his delegation to a State Dinner at the National Palace, a gesture aimed at strengthening the enduring diplomatic and economic ties between both nations.
Nkwocha highlighted the strong history of cooperation between Nigeria and Ethiopia, citing past collaborations in military support, regional peacekeeping, and trade partnerships. He added that the Vice President’s visit is geared toward expanding that relationship into new areas, particularly climate action, food security, and sustainable industrialisation.
