The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West has announced the ongoing restructuring of its Ekiti State chapter as part of efforts to reclaim the state in the 2026 governorship election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The party also reaffirmed its strength and vibrancy, noting that internal issues at the national level are being addressed. However, leaders in the zone downplayed the influence of former Governor Ayo Fayose, asserting that the outcome of the 2026 polls will not hinge on his input.

This was disclosed by the South-West PDP Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, during the inauguration of several campaign committees in Ikere Ekiti to support the governorship aspiration of Dr. Wole Oluyede.

Atofarati, joined by other zonal party leaders, called for unity among members, emphasizing PDP’s determination to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Our national and zonal leaders are here in solidarity. This time, we’re fully committed to the PDP cause and will work collectively to reclaim Ekiti. The ruling government should start preparing to exit in 2026 — divide-and-rule tactics will no longer work,” he said.

He urged people in Ikere and the entire South Senatorial District to reject deputy governorship slots and aim for the governorship position itself. “We can’t do this alone. We need support from the Central and North districts to succeed.”

Atofarati also warned against impostors claiming to speak for the PDP in Ekiti and commended Dr. Oluyede for stepping up to lead the charge.

“By God’s grace, this marks the beginning of our journey back to the Government House,” he concluded.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The family later confirmed the tragedy after a senior military officer contacted them around 6:30 am, informing them that the base had come under attack and that the Brigade Commander was among those killed.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He wrote, “Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding pending further directive from me.”

The cleric had earlier this week publicly invited proposals for her marriage, setting conditions that included the suitor being young and in good physical and mental health, alongside promised financial support and housing benefits.

He also said the couple would enjoy lifelong support, including shared property ownership and periodic welfare checks from church members.

The development follows a similar arrangement recently conducted by the church involving a non-verbal autistic man who was married in a ceremony organised by the ministry.
