According to reports, the breakdown of retirees includes 362 personnel from the Nigerian Army, 134 from the Navy, and 46 from the Air Force.
The retirement ceremony took place at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) in Oshodi, Lagos. Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, was the Commander of Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Major General Aligbe Obhiozele, who praised the retirees for their unwavering dedication and contributions.
“Today, we honour your courage, discipline, and selfless service to our great country. Your 35-year journey reflects the highest traditions of military excellence—resilience and patriotism. As you move into civilian life, we encourage you to continue upholding these values and become leaders in your communities,” he stated.
The Chief of Army Staff also urged the retirees to maintain the discipline they exhibited throughout their military careers in their post-service lives.
Ahead of their disengagement, the personnel underwent vocational training at NAFRC to ease their transition into civilian life. They also received discharge certificates during the ceremony.
One of the retirees, Sergeant Musa Bello, shared his enthusiasm: “The training has prepared me for life outside the military. I focused on farming and plan to invest my gratuity in it. I’m proud of my years of service.”
