Bayelsa communities have thrown their weight behind federal efforts to protect Nigeria’s oil assets, applauding the “dedicated service” of the National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Staff, and security agencies for defending the nation’s energy lifelines.

The endorsement came during a townhall-style meeting in Yenagoa, hosted by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Ltd (PINL), the firm in charge of safeguarding over 215 host communities along the Trans-Niger Pipeline across four states—Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, and Imo.

Representing Bayelsa’s communities, Mr. Timi Ogoriba praised the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the new NNPCL board for their “visionary leadership” and commitment to reviving the oil sector through reforms that drive transparency and investor confidence.

Ogoriba, also a former MOSIEND president, hailed PINL’s grassroots approach and strong community ties, noting their efforts have boosted crude oil production and strengthened trust at the local level.

He urged the federal government to go beyond security patrols and enact policies that address the root causes of vandalism—poverty, marginalisation, and environmental degradation.

PINL’s representative, Mr. Akpos Mezeh, said the meeting aimed to assess the company’s impact, particularly its success in reducing pipeline vandalism to near-zero levels. He said this stability has led to continuous operations at key sites such as Diebi Creek and Gbarian.

Mezeh added that environmental conditions have improved, with less air pollution from soot. He also announced the launch of skills centres for women and youth to tackle unemployment in host communities.

However, Mezeh sounded a warning: some local leaders are enabling sabotage. He called on traditional rulers to resolve disputes in their CDCs and said true development can only happen in a climate of unity and accountability.

APC Fires Back at Adeleke Over ₦300bn LG Funds Allegation, Blames Governor for Salary Crisis....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.

He insisted he would not abandon workers, blaming the situation for delays in executing some state projects.

But in a statement, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the claims, accusing the governor of misleading the public and shifting blame.

The party alleged that Adeleke was responsible for the salary issues, claiming he refused to release electronic payment vouchers and other financial documents needed for processing payments.

APC also said pension-related records, leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and other financial data had not been made available despite repeated appeals, insisting that funds were properly accounted for and available for use if approved.

The party urged pensioners and workers to seek clarification, insisting the situation could be resolved if the governor allowed due process to take place.
