Rescue Drama in Katsina: Security Operatives Storm Kidnappers’ Hideout, Free 11 Victims

In a statement released on Friday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, revealed that 11 kidnapped victims were rescued unscathed after a gunfight with the suspects.
In a separate operation in Delta State, police arrested a notorious kidnap kingpin behind a cross-state kidnapping network operating across Delta, Rivers, Imo, and Enugu States.
Adejobi further stated that officers also foiled an arms smuggling attempt in Delta, recovering a significant cache of illegal firearms and ammunition.
A major breakthrough came on June 8, 2025, in Katsina State when a Joint Task Force comprising police and allied forces disrupted a kidnapping attempt along the Danmusa–Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa Local Government Area.
The operatives, who were on patrol, engaged the armed bandits in a fierce exchange of gunfire. The assailants, suffering gunshot wounds, were forced to flee, while 11 victims were rescued without injury.
Meanwhile, in Delta, operatives from the CP-Special Assignment Team, acting on credible intelligence, arrested 30-year-old Abubakar Hassan, a key suspect in a kidnapping syndicate. He confessed to masterminding multiple abductions along the Ughelli–Ozoro axis and led officers to a hideout in the Ozoro forest, where two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 32 rounds of live ammunition were recovered. This follows the earlier arrest of three other members of the same gang.
Additionally, during a routine stop-and-search along Ughelli Road, Safer Highway Patrol officers intercepted a vehicle and discovered a locally fabricated pump-action single-barrel rifle and 15 live cartridges. The suspect, Obi Ezekiel (38), was arrested at the scene.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the bravery and professionalism of the officers and urged all police commands to sustain the offensive against violent crime.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains unwavering in its commitment to ensure that criminals have no refuge anywhere in our country,” he affirmed.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
