From Tragedy to Triumph: Obi Supports Chibok School with Laptops, ₦6m Gift
Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced a donation of laptops and ₦6 million to Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State—the school tragically known for the 2014 abduction of over 200 girls by Boko Haram.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Obi made the disclosure on Wednesday via a post on his verified X account, explaining that the gesture was inspired by a plea from activist Aisha Yesufu, who informed him of the school’s dire infrastructure situation, including the absence of computers, laboratories, and electricity.
“With over 2,500 students, the school had only one desktop computer,” Obi noted. “Aisha Yesufu respectfully asked if I could add two more and help provide solar lighting for the computer room.”
Although Obi initially sought to visit the school and reach out to Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, he was advised against traveling to the area due to security concerns.
Instead, Yesufu helped organize a meeting in Abuja with leaders of the Chibok community. During the meeting, Obi said he donated 10 laptops and 3 printers, and contributed ₦2 million each toward equipping the laboratory, computer classroom, and for a handheld motorized borehole—bringing the total donation to ₦6 million.
