Terror by the Roadside: Petrol Tanker Catches Fire Close to Worship Camp, Commuters Flee
Panic gripped commuters and residents on Wednesday after a petrol tanker went up in flames along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, directly in front of the NASFAT Prayer Ground.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The incident occurred when the fuel-laden tanker reportedly lost balance and toppled over while in motion. Moments later, it ignited, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and sparking widespread panic in the area.
A user on X (formerly Twitter), identified as @SegunOladejo_ and known online as #EndSARS Segun | Legal, posted:
“A tanker is burning on Lagos-Ibadan expressway just opposite NASFAT praying ground. The fire is horrible.”
Photos from the scene, credited to Dare Olawin, show flames engulfing the area in front of the NASFAT worship centre.
At the time this report was filed, emergency response teams had yet to arrive at the location.
This incident follows a similar tanker explosion that occurred on Monday between the Oremeji and Olorunsogo sections of the same expressway. Though that earlier fire caused heavy traffic gridlock, no casualties were recorded, and it took the intervention of the Oyo State Fire Service to extinguish the blaze after several hours.
