APC Chieftain Drops Bombshell: ‘Tinubu’s Economic Hardship Pushing Citizens Over the Edge’”
A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has sounded the alarm over what he described as an “unprecedented surge in suicides” under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, attributing the crisis to deepening poverty and widespread hunger across Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a sharply critical statement released on Tuesday, Eze — a close associate of former Transportation Minister Chibuike Amaechi — condemned Tinubu’s economic management, describing the current hardship as a product of “clueless leadership” that has plunged millions into hopelessness.
Backing Amaechi’s recent remark that he was hungry, Eze said the statement reflects the painful reality of ordinary Nigerians. “Amaechi saying he’s hungry is a subtle warning to Tinubu — a call to wake up and save Nigerians from despair. It’s the bitter truth that must be told,” he said.
Eze criticised those who attacked Amaechi’s comments, particularly Tinubu’s supporters, arguing they should have acknowledged the severity of the suffering rather than dismissing it.
“More Nigerians have taken their own lives during this regime than in any administration in Nigeria’s history,” Eze stated, linking the tragedy directly to Tinubu’s policies.
He further accused the administration of silencing dissent and suppressing press freedom. “In today’s Nigeria, saying you’re hungry under Tinubu’s insensitive and directionless government has become taboo,” Eze said. “Imagine a government that impoverishes the people with anti-poor, self-serving policies and still expects them to remain silent.”
According to him, rather than condemning voices like Amaechi’s, the government should appreciate such warnings as reflections of the people’s pain. He also took a swipe at FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and others who attacked Amaechi, accusing them of deliberately misinterpreting his statement.
“Amaechi was pointing out that if you’re not part of the looting class or in government, you can’t escape hunger in Nigeria today,” Eze said.
Mocking Wike’s infrastructural projects in Abuja, Eze added, “Building flyovers and making noise in Abuja won’t put food on people’s tables. If someone is starving, can a flyover feed them or end their suffering?”
