Legacy or Liability? PDP Accuses Aiyedatiwa of Dumping Akeredolu’s Projects, APC Roars in Defense

Published

on

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of deliberately neglecting uncompleted projects initiated by his late predecessor, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The PDP’s allegation was made in a statement released on Sunday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Leye Igbabo.

According to the opposition party, it believes the governor is intentionally trying to erase Akeredolu’s legacy from the state’s developmental history.

In response, Mr. Steve Otaloro, Director of Media and Publicity for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, refuted the claim, calling it false. He stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa is actively working to complete the inherited projects.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office following Akeredolu’s passing on December 27, 2023, after a prolonged battle with illness and political tension within the state. He later secured the party’s ticket and won the November 16, 2024 governorship election.

The PDP, however, expressed concern over what it described as the governor’s “unwillingness and inability” to continue with Akeredolu’s projects.

The statement reads in part:
“We are disturbed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s apparent refusal to complete ongoing projects left behind by his benefactor and predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

“Evidence suggests that the governor is motivated by political revenge—seeking to erase Akeredolu’s legacy due to the perceived efforts by the late governor’s allies to block his political rise during the former governor’s illness and after his death.

“It is alleged that Aiyedatiwa has openly declared he would only support projects he finds appealing, and that those who previously benefited from such initiatives should seek alternative funding to complete them.”

The PDP added:
“With the state’s considerable resources, it is puzzling that the governor would hesitate to complete these projects, especially since governance is supposed to be a continuous process. These signs point toward a deliberate plan to discard the legacy of a former leader for personal and political reasons.”

Factional Crisis Rocks ADC In Akwa Ibom As Party Splits Deepen.

Published

Barely a year after its inauguration in Akwa Ibom State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been plunged into a deep factional crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.

One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.

Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.

Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.

In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.

He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.

According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.

Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.
