Dr. Ogah made the commitment during a visit to Hon. Kalu at the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP) office in Umuahia, Abia State. He commended Kalu for his legislative achievements, particularly his role in sponsoring the bill that led to the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), urging him to continue advocating for the interests of the Igbo people.
“My brother and friend, we’ve always worked together, and today, I’m here to formally align with you in ensuring the success of the Renewed Hope Partners initiative in Abia State,” Ogah said.
“We’ll do all within our power—leveraging our networks, communities, and social capital—to ensure this partnership thrives. With our united front and the support of everyone here, the President can rest easy—we are solidly behind him.”
Ogah emphasized that they would commit both their efforts and resources to the cause, noting that the combined strength of their political structure would guarantee results.
“I appreciate the work you’re doing for the Southeast. The South East Development Commission is a milestone for reconstruction, reconciliation, and rehabilitation—something we’ve long deserved since 1970. It’s finally a reality, and we’re grateful.
“Keep doing more for our people. We believe the future belongs to those who dare to dream, and we’re confident that in due time, every divine purpose for each of us will come to fruition.”
In response, Deputy Speaker Kalu welcomed Ogah’s support and praised his political influence and contributions in Abia State.
“We share a common vision, and your presence brings tremendous value. You’ve made significant investments in Abia politics, and I’m the last person who would overlook your impact,” Kalu said.
“After our conversation, it became clear—Dr. Uche Ogah is fully on board. We’re not just working within the Southeast; we’re planning a wider tour to showcase the President’s achievements and mobilize support ahead of 2027. Unity is strength, and together, we will achieve more.”

The Allegation: The survivor, Malam Babawo Tudun Nasera—whose 17-year-old brother Salim was among the deceased—stated in a video that authorities wanted the miners to halt operations, but they continued working based on instructions allegedly given by Babangida.

The Arrest and Detention: Nasera explained that the miners went to the site to earn a living to feed their families before NSCDC personnel arrested them and held them in custody for three days, allegedly refusing release efforts.

Suspicious Circumstances: Raising questions about the sudden deaths, Nasera noted that the detainees had eaten well the day before, speculating that heat exposure or some form of administered substance may have been involved.
