Sanusi led thousands of worshippers at the Kofar Mata Eid ground around 8:15 a.m. The state’s Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, represented Governor Abba Yusuf, who is currently on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
Sanusi arrived at the prayer ground on foot, accompanied by a large crowd of supporters, and returned the same way, walking through the streets to Gidan Shettima. The surrounding areas of Kofar Mata, Mandawari, and Wambai were packed with residents clad in vibrant Sallah attire, exchanging greetings despite the absence of the traditional Durbar festival.
“Durbar is not what makes Sallah meaningful. What truly matters is unity and faith. Watching Sanusi walk among the people today was everything to us,” said Saminu Yusuf, a Dala resident.
In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Ibrahim Shuaibu, Deputy Governor Gwarzo urged the Muslim faithful to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration for reflection, prayers, and the promotion of peace and unity. He noted that the festival symbolizes “sacrifice, obedience, and complete submission to Allah’s will.” He also prayed for the safe return of Kano pilgrims and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to accountability and development.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero held a separate Eid prayer session at 8:00 a.m. at the Nasarawa Mini Palace on State Road in the Nasarawa GRA. The event also drew a large crowd, including prominent members of the All Progressives Congress, such as the state APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, and several former state commissioners.
In his Sallah message, Bayero urged the government to prioritize infrastructure and social development. “We encourage the government to continue initiating projects that benefit the people,” he said in a statement by his spokesperson, Abubakar Balarabe.
He also prayed for peace, security, and citizens’ well-being, and called on religious leaders to continue guiding the youth through their teachings and sermons.
