DSS Moves to Silence Utomi: Seeks Court Order to Halt Shadow Government Agenda
The Department of State Services (DSS) has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an order to restrain former presidential candidate, Professor Patrick Utomi, from making public statements or holding any rallies connected to his proposed plan to establish a shadow government in Nigeria....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Utomi, who contested the 2007 presidential election under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is being accused by the DSS of attempting to unlawfully assume the executive powers of President Bola Tinubu.
In a fresh motion filed on Wednesday by a legal team led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Akinlolu Kehinde, the DSS informed the court that intelligence reports indicate Utomi, who is currently abroad, intends to return to Nigeria on June 6 to lead protests, organize road shows, and give media interviews.
The agency argued that Utomi’s planned activities are designed to incite the public and further his agenda of forming an illegitimate government — an issue that is already before the court in an ongoing suit.
As such, the DSS requested the court to grant:
“An order of interlocutory injunction restraining the respondent (Utomi), his agents, associates, employees, or anyone acting on his behalf, from conducting road shows, rallies, public lectures, or any form of public event, including media publications, TV programs, jingles, or public enlightenment efforts that promote or support the proposed ‘shadow government’ or its goals, pending the determination of the substantive case.”
The DSS warned that unless restrained, Utomi’s proposed actions pose a serious threat to public order, national security, and the unity of the country.
Describing itself as the body legally mandated to maintain Nigeria’s internal security and protect the authority of the state, the DSS emphasized its responsibility to prevent any actions that could destabilize the nation.
It told the court that intelligence monitoring revealed plans by Utomi to disguise his activities under the banner of freedom of speech and association, while working to stir public unrest in pursuit of a shadow cabinet.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
