Ruling from the Shadows? APC Addresses Rumors of Powerful Cabal Behind Tinubu’s Decisions!

Published

on

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly dismissed allegations by former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, who claimed that a powerful cabal has hijacked President Bola Tinubu’s administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Responding to the claims, APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, questioned Dalung’s credibility and competence, criticizing his performance during his ministerial tenure.

“Who exactly is Dalung, and what did he achieve while in office?” Basiru asked pointedly. “He lacks the intellectual depth to comment meaningfully on governance matters,” he added, describing Dalung’s accusations as baseless.

In a recent interview with Punch, Dalung alleged that the supposed cabal existed even before Tinubu was sworn in and has been influencing government decisions from the outset.

“From when I met Tinubu as an aspirant until his election, I knew we were heading for this,” Dalung said. He revealed that he had warned Yoruba elders shortly before the May 2023 inauguration about an imminent takeover by a “sophisticated cabal,” though his warning was dismissed as personal animosity.

He cited the abrupt fuel subsidy removal on inauguration day and the delayed formation of the cabinet as signs of poor planning and elite interference. Dalung claimed these moves worsened economic conditions, causing fuel prices to soar and living costs to rise sharply.

Likening himself to the biblical prophet Jeremiah, Dalung said, “I foresaw this hardship and now live in the midst of it, left only to lament.”

When asked if Tinubu’s administration mirrored the Buhari era, Dalung agreed to some similarities but insisted the current power brokers are more strategic and dangerous.

“Buhari’s cabal was largely inexperienced. Tinubu’s circle is far more calculating and ambitious — they’re political tacticians,” he said.

However, Basiru pushed back on these claims, insisting democratic institutions, such as the National Assembly, are fully operational under Tinubu’s leadership.

“What cabal is he talking about when the legislature is functioning?” Basiru countered. “His reasoning is shallow and lacks any serious merit. It doesn’t deserve more than a passing glance.”

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.

He also urged residents, especially affected families, not to allow their pain to be used for political gains, insisting it is unjust to associate Saraki with the crime.

The party further alleged that the move is aimed at distracting attention from governance challenges in the state.
