Governor Otti Says 2027 Re-election Bid Depends on Divine Direction....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has declared that his decision to seek re-election in 2027 rests solely with God.

Speaking at a civic reception organized in his honour by the Oha Isiala Ngwa people from Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Government Areas, held at the Okpuala Ngwa Stadium, Governor Otti was publicly endorsed by his Oha Ngwa clan as their sole candidate for the next gubernatorial election.

In response to the endorsement, the Governor expressed gratitude but emphasized that he would continue to seek divine guidance before making a definitive decision.

“Just as 2023 was determined by God, so will 2027 be,” Otti stated. “I appreciate your endorsement, which I take as recognition of the work we’ve accomplished, but I will keep consulting with God. At the appropriate time, I will announce my decision.”

Governor Otti underscored the strategic role of Aba in his administration’s economic blueprint, noting that the city’s revitalization is key to increasing internally generated revenue, which in turn supports development across the state.

“Aba is central to our economic vision—not just for Abia, but for the South East and South-South regions. Unlocking its potential is vital for the state’s future,” he said.

Addressing infrastructure projects, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and announced that the Mgboko–Ntigha road would be completed by December. He also addressed concerns surrounding the Abia Airport project, clarifying that its location in Nsulu was based purely on technical viability, not political considerations.

“We are not just constructing an airport—we are developing an airport city,” Otti explained. “The project will include hotels, shopping centers, and even a Nigeria Air Force base. It’s a long-term investment in Abia’s economy.” He further noted that verified landowners affected by the project have been fully compensated, with any outstanding issues linked to documentation problems.

Governor Otti also welcomed defectors from other political parties, including former members of the PDP and Accord Party, as well as leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, who formally declared their support for the Labour Party.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Obinna Anaba, and a prominent stakeholder, Mr. Cyril Ishmael, lauded the Governor’s efforts in improving infrastructure, social services, and driving economic reform across the state.
