Defections Can’t Shake Adeleke!” – Osun PDP Dares Opposition Ahead of 2026 Polls
Osun PDP Boss Shrugs Off Defections, Affirms Adeleke’s 2026 Re-Election Bid Remains Solid....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Sunday Bisi, has downplayed the recent wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that they pose no real threat to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s 2026 re-election prospects.
Bisi described the political exits as merely a “storm in a teacup,” reaffirming that Governor Adeleke still commands overwhelming support from a broad cross-section of Osun residents.
His reaction follows concerns over the impact of the departure of prominent PDP figures, including Hon. Wole Oke, a current member of the House of Representatives representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, and Senator Felix Ogunwale, who served Osun Central from 2003 to 2007, along with several of their loyalists.
Adding fuel to the controversy, the three PDP senators from Osun State recently declared support for APC’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term ambition—a move that has sparked criticism and stirred political tension.
Nonetheless, Bisi remains unshaken. In an interview with Punch on Wednesday, he said:
“These defections are inconsequential. If we’re talking about real political shifts, look at Delta State, where the governor and the PDP’s entire structure moved to the APC. That’s significant. What’s happening in Osun is minor and has no impact on our strength.”
He further stated that Governor Adeleke’s performance record in governance would secure him a comfortable re-election.
“Governor Adeleke has consistently delivered on infrastructure, welfare, and good governance. The people see his work and will re-elect him based on results, not political noise,” Bisi asserted.
