Party Trouble? No Excuse! PDP Can Still Reclaim Power in 2027 – Former Chairman Urges Action”
A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Kunmi Mustapha, has called on Governor Seyi Makinde to begin laying the groundwork for a presidential ambition in 2027.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to reports, Mustapha made this call in a personally signed statement on Thursday in Ibadan, commemorating Makinde’s sixth year in office. He praised the governor’s courage and leadership, describing him as a highly qualified contender for Nigeria’s top seat.
Mustapha, who also serves as Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the governor, dismissed concerns over the current internal crisis in the PDP, stating it does not signify defeat in the race for national power come 2027.
He urged Nigerians to rally behind leaders with integrity and genuine concern for public welfare, rather than those who inflict hardship on citizens.
The PDP stalwart also acknowledged the unifying efforts of the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, Board of Trustees member Bode George, and other national figures working to restore party cohesion.
“The present challenges facing our party do not mean the PDP cannot reclaim power at the federal level in 2027,” Mustapha said. “Governor Makinde’s record in transforming Oyo State and his broader contributions to Nigeria’s progress make him stand out.”
He further lauded Makinde’s achievements across sectors such as urban renewal, education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, workers’ welfare, and support for the elderly and vulnerable, calling them unmatched since he assumed office in 2015.
“Governor Makinde has shown rare vision and commitment to the people, reminiscent only of Pa Obafemi Awolowo among Yoruba politicians,” Mustapha added. “Rain or shine, we remain loyal and urge him to begin preparing for 2027.”
