According to reports, the tragic incident occurred on Sunday when a group of hoodlums launched a violent attack on the Rano Police Station, setting parts of the facility ablaze, including two vehicles. The assault was allegedly sparked by the death of Abdullahi Musa, a motorcycle mechanic who had been arrested earlier that day.

Musa was reportedly taken into custody following multiple complaints from the public over his reckless riding. Police authorities stated that his health deteriorated while in custody, leading to his transfer to Rano General Hospital, where he later died.

In a statement issued on Thursday, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, condemned the killing of CSP Ali, describing it as a “devastating blow to the fabric of society.”

Kiyawa stressed that the command remains fully committed to ensuring justice is served, noting that intensive efforts are underway to apprehend everyone involved in the attack.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, also reassured residents of the state’s resolve to thoroughly investigate the incident. He praised the ongoing support from the public and urged citizens to remain calm and cooperative as the investigation unfolds.
