FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, led the operation on Wednesday during a routine inspection across the capital.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the affected firms include CEWARA Security in Wuse 2, Most Bright Security, Security China, and Ebowise Security in Jabi. Others are Barumark Security in Wuye, Segad Security Protection Services at Prince and Princess Estate, and Prixair Security.

Out of the seven firms, six were shut down for operating without valid NSCDC licenses, while one had an expired license.

Odumosu said the closures were due to multiple infractions, including unauthorized use of security uniforms, employment of unvetted personnel, and threats to public safety. He emphasized that some of the sealed companies had failed to register properly with the NSCDC, as required by law.

He also warned that foreign-owned security companies are not permitted to operate in Nigeria, as national laws reserve private guard licenses for indigenous firms only.

The Commandant linked lapses in guard vetting to rising insecurity in Abuja, including kidnapping cases, stressing the need for background checks on security personnel.

“Some of these companies employ random individuals, give them uniforms, and place them in sensitive positions without any proper screening. That is a major threat to our internal security,” Odumosu warned.

He reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring only licensed, law-abiding security firms operate in the FCT.

CAN explained that the document causing the confusion was issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), adding that it never approved or circulated any communication involving the Sultan in the chapel project.

It said the clarification became necessary to correct the public impression and prevent misinformation linking it to the claim.
