Ogun PDP Dismisses Akinlade’s Resignation as ‘Absolutely Nothing’
The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has downplayed the resignation of its 2023 deputy governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, describing it as inconsequential.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Akinlade announced his exit from the party on Monday, citing unresolved internal crises that he claimed had derailed the PDP’s democratic ideals and inclusive governance agenda.
However, in a statement issued Tuesday by the party’s publicity secretary, Kayode Adebayo, the PDP accused Akinlade of using the internal wrangling as a cover to formalize his long-standing alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“His resignation means nothing to us. He had already pitched his tent with the ruling APC during the 2023 elections by refusing to participate actively in our campaigns,” Adebayo stated.
The party accused Akinlade of undermining the PDP’s 2023 governorship campaign and noted that he failed to deliver even in his home local government, Ipokia, despite the resources committed to the area.
“This is a man who acted more like a political mercenary, working against the collective interests of the party. His resignation only formalizes what has been evident for months,” Adebayo added.
The PDP also criticized what it described as Akinlade’s “diabolic alliance” with other disaffected members to destabilize the party following its legal defeats after the 2023 elections.
Adebayo further urged any other disgruntled members loyal to Akinlade to leave, stating that the party is currently undergoing internal reforms and revival aimed at regaining its electoral strength in the state.
“We’ve lost nothing. In fact, his departure clears the path for genuine party loyalists committed to rebuilding a winning PDP in Ogun State.”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied claims that he ordered the revocation of the licence of Rainbow Event Centre, which hosted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention on February 14, 2026.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike said the party should stop blaming him for its internal issues, insisting that the ADC is already heading towards political failure on its own.
The ADC had alleged that FCT authorities denied it access to venues for its convention and attempted to stop the use of the Rainbow Event Centre before the event eventually held there.
Reacting, Wike said investigations have already been launched into the matter and directed his Chief of Staff to identify any staff member involved in the alleged interference.
He stated: “We will not allow people to just wake up and say the FCT Minister did this or that. I have told my Chief of Staff to find out from the company which staff member interfered. We will get to the bottom of this.”
Meanwhile, Wike also commented on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s political ambitions, saying he would have to wait until 2031 to contest for the presidency.
He said there is “no space” for Atiku in 2027, adding that he could try again in 2031 when he would be 82 years old.
Wike made the remarks during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Kuje Area Council on Thursday, while also criticising Atiku’s repeated attacks on the current administration and insisting that President Bola Tinubu has performed better than previous leadership.

According to the 33-year-old, her dating history includes a model, a footballer, and even a bus driver, some of whom she met on dating apps. She also disclosed that she once paid about £400 (over ₦700,000) to join a dating platform.
Cuppy said her perspective on relationships has changed with time, especially after her younger sister, Temi Otedola, got married to singer Mr Eazi.
She noted that she now prefers a simple and peaceful relationship, adding that she is no longer interested in complicated lifestyles or public attention.
She said: “I’ve dated all kinds of men, but now all I want is a simple 9–5 man with no social media. I once dated a bus driver I met on a dating app that I paid £400 to join.”
Cuppy has previously been in the public eye for her relationships, including her engagement to British boxer Ryan Taylor in 2022, which ended shortly after. She has also been linked to music executive Asa Asika.
