Ogun Residents Decry Dilapidated ICT Building in Ipokia Secondary School
Residents of Ipokia in Ogun State’s Ipokia Local Government Area have raised concerns over the deplorable condition of the ICT building at the community secondary school. Once a vital learning hub for students, the facility has deteriorated to the extent of becoming a refuge for reptiles.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Images shared with our correspondent reveal damaged ceilings, broken windows, and faded wall paint. The ICT building was originally established about 15 years ago through the efforts of a House of Representatives member, Abiodun Akinlade. However, lack of proper maintenance has left the building and its equipment in a state of serious disrepair.
Rotimi Olawin, a former student, addressed an open letter to Akinlade highlighting that the initially provided computer equipment is now missing. He also expressed concern about the overall poor condition of the school buildings, warning that the dilapidated structures pose safety risks to students.
Olawin stated, “It is heartbreaking to return years after graduation and find the ICT building abandoned and overrun by snakes and reptiles. The facility’s ceiling is damaged, doors and windows are broken, air conditioners are missing, and the solar panels appear stolen. The entire school suffers from inadequate infrastructure, including lack of windows, chairs, and sufficient teaching staff.”
He urged Akinlade to intervene and restore the ICT facility to enable students to receive quality ICT education, stressing the importance of supporting the future of current students.
Another local resident, Solomon, attributed the building’s deterioration to a lack of maintenance culture. “The problem is the absence of upkeep, which allowed the structure to degrade. Although the government is not directly responsible for monitoring the building, urgent action is needed,” he remarked.
Attempts to reach Akinlade for comment were unsuccessful as calls and messages remained unanswered by press time. However, Olawin later confirmed that Akinlade had contacted him, expressing readiness to address the issue and promised to dispatch representatives to the school.
“We appreciate Hon. Akinlade’s prompt response and look forward to positive developments,” Olawin concluded.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
