In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the group’s president, Alhaji Ibrahim Anka, COGGAN criticized the governor’s inability to deliver on his campaign promises, including his vow to eliminate banditry within his first three months in office. Over a year into his tenure, the group noted, widespread insecurity still plagues the state.
COGGAN raised concerns over continued bandit attacks that have disrupted farming, commerce, and education in rural areas, leaving many communities in fear and economic hardship.
The group also condemned the administration’s limited achievements in the education sector, pointing to poor access to quality basic education and the dilapidated state of school infrastructure.
Further criticizing a lack of transparency in public fund management, the coalition urged the Lawal administration to clearly communicate how federal allocations and special funds are being utilized.
Concluding its statement, COGGAN reiterated its demand for Governor Lawal’s resignation, stating that the people of Zamfara “deserve leadership that prioritizes their safety, education, and welfare.”
