Sunday Igboho: I’m Still Wanted by FG Despite Living Abroad

Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has affirmed that he remains on the Nigerian government’s wanted list, countering recent remarks suggesting otherwise.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued from Ibadan on Wednesday, Igboho dismissed claims by Naja’atu Mohammed, a former director in President Tinubu’s campaign council, who questioned why Igboho continued to enjoy unrestricted movement abroad despite being declared wanted by Nigerian authorities.

Mohammed had recently criticised the government’s contrasting handling of secessionist leaders, pointing out that while Nnamdi Kanu remains detained, Igboho appeared free. She further accused President Tinubu of marginalising the North after leveraging its electoral strength in the 2023 elections.

Reacting, Igboho described her remarks as uninformed and misleading. He emphasized that he cannot enter Nigeria and continues to travel across Europe only by virtue of his German citizenship.

“The order declaring me wanted issued under the Buhari administration remains active,” he stated, stressing that his advocacy stemmed from violence perpetrated by herdsmen in the South-West during Buhari’s tenure.

Recalling the 2021 raid on his Ibadan residence, Igboho alleged that security operatives sought to either arrest or eliminate him, resulting in the deaths of two of his associates and the detention of thirteen others.

He also criticised Naja’atu for turning a blind eye to the devastation caused by Boko Haram and armed herders, and questioned her silence during alleged negotiations between the Buhari administration and terror groups.

Igboho warned her against using his name in political propaganda aimed at discrediting Tinubu’s government, stating, “She should desist from bringing my name into her diatribe.”

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.
