Speaking during an empowerment event held at the council secretariat on Tuesday, Adesina stated that the free ride programme aims to bolster voter turnout for the elections scheduled for July 12, 2025, by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
As part of the same event, the council disbursed N50,000 grants to 20 women across various wards within the LGA to support small-scale business ventures. According to Adesina, these combined efforts are designed to both enhance civic participation and improve the socio-economic well-being of constituents.
He emphasized the significance of grassroots elections in addressing local needs, noting that PVC collection remains a crucial step toward inclusive governance.
“Elections at the local level are fundamental to community development. We must ensure our people are involved and empowered to vote,” Adesina remarked.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to community upliftment, he added, “Initiatives like this are not just about immediate support; they’re about sustainable empowerment.”
The chairman also reaffirmed his commitment to completing all ongoing projects before the conclusion of his tenure and expressed appreciation to his team for their dedication.
During the event, Alhaja Rashidat Bello, the APC Woman Leader for Ikorodu Division, lauded the council’s consistent investment in women’s empowerment, calling the grants a vital catalyst for grassroots entrepreneurship.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Shokunbi Karimot, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chairman and the APC, offering prayers for his continued political success.
