Zamfara Governor Inaugurates 2025 Hajj Committee, Pledges Full Support for Pilgrims

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Government House in Gusau, was accompanied by a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, which confirmed the appointment of the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Tambari, as the Amirul Hajj and Chairman of the committee.

The committee also includes Sulaiman Adamu Gummi, Commissioner for Religious Affairs, as Vice Chairman, and Alhaji Habibu Balarabe, Executive Secretary of the Zakat Board, who will serve as Secretary.

Governor Lawal emphasized the significance of the committee’s mission, urging them to conduct all operations with excellence, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility. He encouraged cooperation with the Zamfara State Hajj Commission, federal authorities, and Saudi partners to guarantee a well-coordinated and problem-free Hajj experience.

“You are entrusted with the spiritual and physical welfare of our citizens. Carry out your duties with compassion, accountability, and discipline,” the governor urged.

He also assured the committee of the government’s unwavering support and requested regular updates throughout the exercise, including a comprehensive final report outlining outcomes and strategic recommendations.

According to a weather update shared on Sunday via its official X handle, NiMet said the day is expected to begin with hot and sunny conditions in many areas before changing later.

In the North, morning heat is expected to give way to isolated thunderstorms later in the day, with places like Taraba likely to experience brief storms and gusty winds.

For the North-Central region, the agency predicted a warm and calm start, followed by possible thunderstorms and rainfall in some states, while others may experience strong winds. Affected areas may include Niger, Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory.

In the South, more intense storm activity is expected as the day progresses, with states such as Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Enugu, Anambra, Rivers, and Delta likely to see rain, lightning, and possible disruption to outdoor activities.

NiMet advised residents to take precautions, including securing loose items that could be affected by strong winds and avoiding unnecessary travel during heavy rain due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.

It also warned against staying in flood-prone areas during rainfall and urged people to seek safe shelter during lightning activity.

Airlines were also advised to obtain regular weather updates from NiMet offices to ensure safe flight operations.
