Tinubu Urged to Dismantle Financial Networks Behind Nigeria’s Insecurity
Nivo News reports that Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has urged President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria’s top security officials to prioritize dismantling the financial and logistical networks that enable terrorism and violent crimes across the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye described the recent attacks in Benue and Plateau States as tragic and unacceptable. He emphasized that defeating armed groups would remain elusive unless the sources of their weapons, supplies, and funding are aggressively disrupted.
He stated that the operations of these groups rely on hidden supporters who provide arms, vehicles, drugs, and other resources, and called for intensified efforts in tracking and prosecuting these enablers.
“To truly tackle the insecurity plaguing our country, attention must shift to those financing these criminal networks,” he said. “Security agencies must strengthen intelligence work, crack down on corruption, and engage in global collaborations to disrupt these illicit funding channels.”
While acknowledging ongoing efforts by security forces, Oyintiloye maintained that rooting out financiers remains key to sustainable peace. He urged security agencies to go beyond arrests and prosecute offenders in open court to send a strong message and ensure transparency.
He also warned against politicizing the nation’s security challenges, insisting that anyone exploiting the crisis to destabilize the Tinubu-led administration should be seen as a threat to national unity.
Backing the president’s performance in security over the past two years, Oyintiloye further stressed the need for institutional reforms, citing failures in law enforcement and the judicial system as contributors to ongoing instability.
He concluded, “If we fail to publicly try and punish those who fund insurgency, and we ignore deep-rooted issues like unemployment, poverty, and weak policing, then the cycle of violence will only persist.”
