Shocking Twist: Gospel Singer Allegedly Behind VeryDarkMan’s Arrest

Published

on

The individual allegedly responsible for the arrest of outspoken online personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been identified following his dramatic apprehension at a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) branch in Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to NIvo News VDM was initially arrested by Nigeria Police officers on May 2, 2025, after publicly accusing GTBank of facilitating unauthorized withdrawals from his mother’s bank account. The arrest, which occurred at the bank’s premises, led to his subsequent transfer into the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

VDM’s lawyer, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, condemned the arrest via a post on the social platform X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that demanding accountability should not be criminalized. Adeyanju revealed that VDM was arrested alongside a friend, identified as C-Park, while his mother was left unharmed. He further alleged that EFCC officials had conspired with GTBank staff to trap VDM at the bank’s exit for over five minutes to enable the arrest.

A later update from Adeyanju confirmed that VDM was being detained by the EFCC and had refused legal visitation while in custody. He also disclosed that legal action would be taken against GTBank for their alleged role in the “inhumane treatment” of his client.

Meanwhile, Nigerian musician Seun Kuti suggested via an Instagram live video that VDM’s arrest may be connected to an unresolved defamation case involving a prominent gospel singer, though he did not name the individual.

A bench warrant was issued on March 13, 2025, by a Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse, Abuja, for VDM’s arrest. The warrant stemmed from accusations that he defamed popular gospel artist Mercy Chinwo. The court had previously summoned him over claims he made in February, alleging that Chinwo diverted performance fees owed to her former label, breaching contractual agreements.

Chinwo’s legal counsel, Pelumi Olajengbesi, described VDM’s statements as damaging and intentionally misleading, asserting they had caused harm to her public image.

As of now, there has been no official police statement confirming the precise charges against VeryDarkMan, leaving many questions about the motivations and legality behind his arrest.

reports that the party made its position known during an emergency press conference in Ilorin on Friday, describing the development as politically motivated and unjust.

He alleged that the move was targeted at dragging Saraki into a case in which, according to him, legal authorities had previously found no evidence linking him to the incident.

Adewara referenced earlier legal opinions from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, which reportedly stated that Saraki was not connected to the robbery case.

The party insisted that suspects in the case had already been prosecuted and convicted, with judgments upheld at appellate levels, while the matter is currently before the Supreme Court.

PDP urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to focus on governance rather than what it described as attempts to revive old political narratives.

It also called on security agencies to monitor the situation closely, warning that such actions could heighten political tension in the state.

The party further appealed to residents, especially families of victims in Offa, not to allow their pain to be used for political purposes.

He said: “I will be running for governor in the 2027 governorship election. I have come to plead with you to set up a small committee… to determine how we can collaborate to make this happen.”

He also questioned whether Ogun State would experience a “coronation” or a competitive election process, urging stakeholders to allow open political contest.

The PDP chieftain noted that Ogun West’s long-standing exclusion from producing a governor is a legitimate grievance, but stressed that aspirations must still be tested through competition.
