The individuals were reportedly part of a hybrid force, which collaborates with military troops in counterinsurgency efforts. Alongside the two military officers, two additional individuals involved in supplying logistics to terrorist groups were also apprehended during the operation.

Kangye condemned the officers’ actions, describing it as a severe act of betrayal. He urged military commanders to ensure that personnel are well-informed about the consequences of actions that undermine national security efforts.

“During a coordinated operation between April 26 and 29, 2025, troops intercepted logistics suppliers to terrorists. Unfortunately, two of the arrested suspects were confirmed to be members of the hybrid forces,” said Maj. Gen. Kangye.

In the update, Kangye also highlighted the success of ongoing military operations, which have resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists and the rescue of six kidnapped victims. The operations, spanning Gwoza, Dikwa, Bama, Chibok, and several other regions, also led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, motorcycles, and bicycles.

Additionally, the Defence Headquarters provided an update on successes in the South-South region, where military personnel have been actively tackling oil theft and illegal refining activities. The operation led to the recovery of over 86,000 liters of stolen crude oil and the dismantling of illegal refining sites, further highlighting the military’s commitment to national security.

Despite possessing what he considers the superior candidate, Baba-Ahmed explained why the party is actively championing a broader political alliance:

  • Consensus Over Ego: The PRP chairman emphasized that the party’s push for a mega-coalition is driven by consensus and constitutional processes rather than forcing Duke’s candidacy through on profile strength alone.
