Police Nab Cultists, Foil Clash Along Calabar–Itu Axis in Akwa Ibom
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals suspected to be armed robbers and cult members, believed to be behind a series of disturbances along the Calabar–Itu road corridor. In a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the command disclosed that intelligence and surveillance units were deployed following reports that two notorious gang leaders were hiding in a guesthouse located in Ntak Inyang.
Acting on this information, police operatives conducted a targeted raid at approximately 5:00 a.m. on May 1. The operation led to the arrest of two male suspects, Joseph Edet from Akon Itam and Ekon Isaiah from Ibiaku Uruan, both confirmed members of the Kuklux Klan secret cult. A female identified as Esther Otobong Edem was also apprehended during the operation.
The raid resulted in the recovery of several items, including a locally fabricated pistol, a battle axe, a hammer, and a container with a suspected charm. Other items found at the scene included two torchlights, two mobile phones, and a black bag containing various objects.
DSP John confirmed that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of inquiries.
