This year’s event holds special significance as it follows the Federal Government’s recent increase of the national minimum wage to ₦70,000 — a decision implemented under President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the wake of fuel subsidy removal on May 29, 2023.
Despite the wage hike, many workers continue to call for further adjustments, citing persistent inflation and rising cost of living across the country.
The atmosphere at Eagle Square was lively and charged with enthusiasm as union members arrived in their branded regalia, singing solidarity songs and showcasing a strong sense of unity. Colourful displays by various affiliated unions reflected the vibrant spirit of the occasion.
