Panic in Benue as Armed Herdsmen Abduct Chief’s Wife, Two Others

The abduction occurred around 1:00 p.m. on Monday along the Unande KM4 stretch of the Naka-Adoka-Ankpa road while the victims were returning from their farms.
A local resident, who requested anonymity, stated that the armed men—some of whom concealed their identities—ambushed the women along the route. According to the source, the mix of masked and unmasked attackers suggests involvement of both local collaborators and external elements.
“The ones hiding their faces might be insiders, while the unmasked appear to be Fulani,” the source said.
The Makurdi-Naka road, once a major route for commuters, has now reportedly become a danger zone, with frequent abductions attributed to bandits and herdsmen.
Attempts to obtain an official response from the Benue State Police Command proved unsuccessful as calls to the spokesperson’s mobile line went unanswered at the time of filing this report.
