The warning came from the Executive Secretary of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ajibola Taiwo, during the final vaccination, sensitization, and distribution of materials to intending pilgrims at the Board’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Taiwo stressed the importance of complying with Saudi Arabia’s strict entry regulations to ensure a smooth and problem-free pilgrimage.

He announced that airlifting of Ogun pilgrims to Saudi Arabia would begin on Monday, May 12, 2025. He further revealed that the Board is about 95 percent ready for this year’s operations, with vaccination processes conducted according to the standards set by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and Saudi authorities.

Pilgrims were also sensitized about Hajj rituals, the conduct expected from them, and the correct items to pack. Materials including uniforms, bags, ID cards, and hijabs were distributed.

Additionally, Sheikh Iskeel Lawal, Consultant to the Ogun State Governor on Islamic Affairs, urged the pilgrims to behave responsibly and represent the state and Nigeria positively during the pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Layi Adekambi, issued a stern warning: anyone caught with illegal substances risks facing severe consequences, including the death penalty.

He urged pilgrims to focus on the spiritual purpose of their journey, reminding them that “a good name is better than wealth and riches.”

Despite possessing what he considers the superior candidate, Baba-Ahmed explained why the party is actively championing a broader political alliance:

  • Consensus Over Ego: The PRP chairman emphasized that the party’s push for a mega-coalition is driven by consensus and constitutional processes rather than forcing Duke’s candidacy through on profile strength alone.

  • Defeating Fault Lines: Framing the 2027 election as a critical turning point for the nation, Baba-Ahmed noted that the stakes go far beyond individual party ambitions. The coalition aims to unite likeminded opposition forces to rescue Nigeria from its current trajectory and bridge its deep fault lines.
