Odumodublvck Thanks Headies for Restoring Mic After Talking About Christ
Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has shed light on the controversial moment during the 17th Headies Awards when his microphone was abruptly muted mid-speech. Odumodublvck suggested that had he been praising a political figure, such as Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his microphone likely would not have been cut off. Despite the incident, he maintained a gracious tone, expressing appreciation to the Headies organizers for eventually restoring his microphone, allowing him to continue delivering his message.
“I was talking about Jesus and they tried to shut me down,” he said. “If I was talking about His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, I’m sure I wouldn’t have been cut off. But I hold no grudge against Headies. I’m thankful they put my mic back on so I could spread the gospel. Jesus is king—now and forever.”
Meanwhile, skit maker and musician Carter Efe also stirred controversy by criticizing the Headies organizers for nominating the late artist Mohbad posthumously. Efe accused the awards body of using Mohbad’s name to generate buzz, questioning why the singer was never recognized while alive. Mohbad, who passed under unclear circumstances in September 2023, was nominated in two categories, with his widow and son accepting the awards on his behalf.
