After a year-long manhunt, Indian authorities have successfully apprehended Nigerian national Ezeonyili Franklin Uchenna, also known as Kaleshi, who was hiding in Bengaluru. During the arrest, Uchenna initially denied any wrongdoing, but a search of his person revealed 17 grams of MDMA, a synthetic drug, concealed in his pocket. In addition to the drugs, authorities recovered a pen drive from Uchenna, containing sensitive information, including names of 411 individuals, photographs, receipts of drug transactions worth Rs 9.50 crore, and other documents linked to international drug trade activities.

Investigations revealed that Uchenna had been recruited into the trafficking network by Divine Ebuka Suzee and his girlfriend, Uche Happiness, in 2022. He was assigned to collect and distribute drugs from various individuals, including Joana Gomes (aka Blessing), who was arrested earlier by the Narsingi Police.

After Blessing’s arrest, Uchenna fled to Bengaluru but continued his drug operations, maintaining detailed digital records. Intelligence provided by two previously arrested suspects, Ugwu Ikechukwu and Chukwu Ogbonna, led to his capture. Uchenna now faces multiple criminal cases in India, marking a significant development in the country’s ongoing fight against foreign drug trafficking syndicates.
