Buni Reaffirms Loyalty to APC, Denounces Defection Rumors
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has firmly rejected claims suggesting he is part of a coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The governor’s position was clarified in a statement issued by his Director-General of Press and Media Affairs, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, on Saturday in Damaturu.
Reports had circulated via a viral text message alleging that Governor Buni, alongside four other APC governors, was preparing to defect to the opposition PDP ahead of the next general elections.
Responding to the claims, Mohammed described the rumors as baseless fabrications driven by pure imagination, insisting that they bore no resemblance to reality.
He emphasized that the author of the viral message had no close connection to Governor Buni and, therefore, had no insight into his political plans.
“Governor Buni is not just a member of the APC; he embodies the party’s spirit. His pivotal role as a two-term National Secretary and later as National Chairman who oversaw the APC convention makes any idea of his defection unfathomable,” Mohammed stated.
He added that the rumors likely stem from a desire by political opponents to associate with Buni’s political strength and credibility, describing it as mere wishful thinking.
