APC Issues One-Week Ultimatum to VeryDarkMan Over Alleged Defamation of Senate President Akpabio

In a statement on Sunday, Blessing Agbomhere, the APC South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary, condemned VeryDarkMan’s outburst, urging him to recognize the boundary between legitimate activism and defamatory statements. Agbomhere cautioned that any further attacks on Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, would not be tolerated.
The controversy stems from a viral three-minute video in which VeryDarkMan criticized Akpabio for attending the Vatican funeral of Pope Francis, describing the trip as “shameful” given Nigeria’s ongoing security crises in states like Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, and Enugu.
In response, Agbomhere defended Akpabio, asserting that the Senate President was appointed by President Bola Tinubu to lead the delegation as a respected Catholic and a man of integrity. He emphasized that Akpabio’s religious background and character made him a fitting representative at the solemn event.
Agbomhere accused VeryDarkMan of engaging in blackmail and character assassination under the guise of social activism, branding his criticisms as misinformed and malicious. He stressed that Akpabio’s selection for the delegation was appropriate and in line with Nigeria’s diplomatic traditions.
Issuing a firm ultimatum, Agbomhere demanded an unreserved public apology from VeryDarkMan within a week, warning him to desist from actions that could tarnish the image of President Tinubu’s administration.
The APC official also urged Nigerians to disregard VeryDarkMan’s commentary, highlighting President Tinubu’s ongoing commitment to addressing security challenges across the country. He pointed out recent directives given to security chiefs by Tinubu, aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s security strategies.
Agbomhere concluded by reminding citizens that solving Nigeria’s security problems requires patience and sustained effort, reinforcing the administration’s dedication to restoring peace and stability nationwide.
