Rivers PDP NASS Members Urge Opposition To Step Aside, Back Tinubu For 2027

The caucus conveyed their endorsement through a statement signed by all nine members and presented to the media by Senator Barry Mpigi during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
The Rivers caucus, comprising two Senators and seven House of Representatives members, cited the significant achievements recorded under Tinubu’s administration, describing his agenda as “effective and progressive.”
The nine signatories include Senator Barry Mpigi, Senator Allwell Onyesoh, Rt. Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, Solomon Bob, Hon. Felix Nwaeke, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu, Cyril Hart, Victor Obuzor, and Blessing Amadi.
In their communique, the lawmakers called on all prospective presidential contenders to reconsider their ambitions in favor of consolidating Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.
Commending Tinubu’s economic strategies, they affirmed that the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda offers the most credible pathway to national recovery and sustainable prosperity. The caucus highlighted Tinubu’s efforts to address the country’s battered economy, referencing the heavy debt burden and infrastructural decay he inherited upon taking office on May 29, 2023.
The lawmakers further praised the President’s economic reforms, noting improvements such as falling inflation, reduced foreign debt, and positive growth projections supported by international bodies like the IMF.
The statement reads:
“We, the National Assembly members from Rivers State, express profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his trust in our leader, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, particularly for his appointment as Minister of the FCT. We are equally encouraged by the President’s public commendation of the Minister’s outstanding performance.”
“After a thorough review of the President’s economic policies, we are convinced that the Renewed Hope Agenda is a viable path to restoring Nigeria’s economic vitality. Given the monumental challenges inherited, President Tinubu’s approach remains the most pragmatic route to our nation’s socio-economic rejuvenation.”
The caucus applauded Tinubu’s swift intervention in Rivers State’s political crisis, recognizing his role in setting the stage for lasting peace.
They concluded with a strong commitment to Tinubu’s 2027 campaign, stating:
“As lawmakers deeply connected to our constituencies, we pledge to lead massive mobilization efforts across Rivers State, building on our 2023 success to secure an even greater victory in 2027.”
“We urge all Nigerians to rally around the Renewed Hope Agenda and discourage endless presidential ambitions that threaten the nation’s stability. We believe in President Tinubu’s leadership and remain resolute in our support.”

The Bangbola Oyewo family of the Ese-Ola Royal House remembered him as a beloved family man, traditional leader, and an inspiration to generations of theatre practitioners.
