Davido Reveals How Security Agencies Launched Nationwide Search for Him
Afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared a remarkable story from his teenage years when Nigerian security forces embarked on a nationwide search for him. In an interview on the American podcast Bagfuel Brigade, Davido recalled secretly building a music studio in the massive 16-bedroom mansion he shared with his father following the death of his mother. With his siblings studying abroad, the young artist spent much of his time recording music and experimenting with his sound, all while keeping it hidden from his father.
Eventually, Davido could no longer keep his passion a secret and fled to London, where he lived for six months with a producer friend to focus on his music. Meanwhile, back in Nigeria, his family grew increasingly worried and launched an intense search, involving the police, army, immigration officials, and other security agencies.
“I was living alone with my dad in a mansion, and I had secretly set up a studio in the house. My father didn’t know, and I spent a lot of time there making music,” Davido shared. “When I left for London, my father and the entire security apparatus were looking for me, including immigration officers and the army. It was intense!”
The search culminated in an encounter at the airport when Davido returned to Nigeria. “I wasn’t planning to go home. But as soon as I stepped out of the airport, an army officer approached me and escorted me outside, where my dad was waiting. I thought he would scold me, but instead, he hugged me. He was just happy to see me.”
This heartwarming story of a son’s rebellious pursuit of his dreams and his father’s unconditional love highlights the emotional journey that shaped the artist’s path to fame.
National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has said the 2027 presidential election would be concluded by 12 noon if a Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket emerges under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Tanko made the remark during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, while reacting to comments by ADC chieftain Dele Momodu, who had suggested a possible Atiku–Obi alliance.
Momodu had argued that a pairing of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi could perform strongly in the election, citing their past collaboration in 2019 and Obi’s 2023 electoral performance.
Responding, Tanko questioned the logic of choosing a candidate who might win a primary but lose the general election, insisting that the Obi–Kwankwaso combination would be more formidable.
He further warned that if the ADC fails to zone its presidential ticket to the South, the party risks losing the 2027 election.
Tanko maintained that with Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso on the same ticket, victory would be decisive and swift.
