Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Joins APC, Continuing Trend of Defections Among PDP Governors
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, became the latest sitting governor to officially leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday. Over the past twelve years, several governors have made the political switch from PDP to APC while still in office. Some of these notable defections include:

Sheriff Oborevwori: The Delta governor’s move to APC comes as a surprise, marking a significant shift in a state that has been a PDP stronghold since 1999. His predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, had also joined the ruling party earlier.

Dave Umahi: The former governor of Ebonyi State defected to APC in November 2020, citing the party’s focus on infrastructure development and the marginalization of the Southeast within PDP.

Bello Matawalle: The former governor of Zamfara State moved to APC in June 2021 amid political instability in the state, seeking a strategic alliance for better control.
