Abia Governor Inaugurates Security Bodies, Urges Sustained Efforts Against Criminality

During the inauguration at the Government House, Umuahia, Otti emphasized that certain areas in the state were previously notorious for kidnappings and other crimes until his administration initiated efforts to combat these bandits. He highlighted a noticeable improvement in security over the past 11 months, attributing it to the administration’s prioritization of the sector.
The Security Advisory Council is tasked with coordinating with existing security structures in the state, while the Security Trust Fund is mandated to collaborate with both public and private entities to mobilize resources for the procurement of essential operational and logistical support for security teams.
In response, the Chairman of the Security Advisory Council, former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (Rtd), and the Chairman of the Security Trust Fund, Stanley Obiamaraije, affirmed their commitment to sustaining the fight against criminality.
Members of the Security Advisory Council include retired DIG Uche Ivy Okoronkwo, Mr. Ray Nkemdirim, retired Maj. Gen. Abel Obi Umahi, retired AVM Emmanuel Chukwu, retired Maj. Gen. J.O. Nwaogbo, and retired Navy Cmdr Macdonald Ubah.
Meanwhile, the Security Trust Fund comprises Mr. Greg Okafor, Mrs. Ngozi Ekeoma, Chief Johnson Chukwu, Mrs. Josephine Nweze, Mrs. Nkechi Obi, and Mr. Bank-Anthony Okoroafor.
The inauguration of these bodies underscores the state government’s commitment to enhancing security measures and ensuring the safety of residents.
