The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has reaffirmed its commitment to regaining political control from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking at a press briefing in Lafia, the PDP State Chairman, Adamu Ninga, disclosed that the party has initiated a robust reconciliation process aimed at uniting aggrieved members and building a stronger front ahead of the polls.

Ninga expressed confidence that the PDP remains the superior alternative in governance, contrasting its past performance with what he described as the APC’s inability to deliver meaningful development and alleviate poverty in the state.

“We are on a mission to reclaim power in 2027. The APC has failed to uplift the people, and the PDP is prepared to reconnect with its roots, rebuild its structure, and offer a better future,” Ninga declared.

He noted that the party is actively reaching out to members who may have been sidelined or hurt during previous contests, urging forgiveness and unity as key steps toward forming a formidable opposition capable of unseating the ruling party.

“The time for selfish interests is over. We are building a united front where all members feel valued. Nasarawa is ripe for a leadership change, and we believe the people are ready to retire the APC,” he added.

Despite ongoing challenges faced by the party nationally — including the recent defection of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to the APC — Ninga maintained that the Nasarawa PDP remains focused and resolute.

Oborevwori’s defection, as explained by his Chief Press Secretary Festus Ahon, followed strategic discussions with political stakeholders and was reportedly driven by a desire to align Delta State with the federal administration for infrastructural gains. Nonetheless, the Nasarawa chapter of the PDP is forging ahead with its plans to win back power through grassroots mobilization and internal cohesion.

Makinde made the declaration on Thursday during the APM South-West town hall meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

He expressed confidence that the party would secure a sweeping victory in the 2027 polls, describing its agenda as a plan to reset the country.

Makinde made the prediction after Mohammed was introduced at the gathering and described as an incoming senator.

Speaking at the event, the APM presidential candidate said, “Well, APM is going to win this election overwhelmingly because this is the reset agenda being put before Nigerians, so I dare to say that my national leader is the incoming Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He urged Nigerians to listen to the party’s message and support its proposed agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.

Makinde also discussed the qualities he believes Nigerians should consider when choosing their next president, arguing that physical energy and the ability to tackle national challenges should take precedence over age.

According to him, the next president must possess the stamina to work long hours and respond effectively to the country’s pressing problems.

He stated, “While I will not make age an issue in this campaign, I will make energy, having energy, being able to stay up late to deal with the challenges we face as a country.”

Makinde further challenged presidential candidates to demonstrate their physical fitness, urging voters to consider their capacity to handle the demands of the presidency.

“So please, when they bring their presidential candidates, let the candidates be able to jump, and if they can do that, vote for them,” he added.
