Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has issued a directive to security forces, ordering the arrest of individuals found carrying knives or sticks, classifying them as armed robbers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This decision aligns with the governor’s enforcement of a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Minna, the state capital, which began on Tuesday.

In addition to the curfew, Governor Bago announced that people wearing dreadlocks would also be detained. He explained that these measures were part of the state’s broader strategy to combat the growing insecurity in Minna.

During a recent security briefing, Governor Bago vowed to use the full strength of his administration to fight against crime in the state. He emphasized that anyone found in possession of weapons, such as knives or sticks, should be treated as an armed robber, and if such a person is killed in the process, their family would be required to pay for the bullet used. Furthermore, anyone with dreadlocked hair would face arrest and forced shaving.

The governor also instructed local authorities, including district, village, and ward leaders, to closely monitor and document visitors in their areas. He issued a stern warning that any house found to be harboring criminals or drug cartels would be demolished.

Governor Bago reaffirmed the state’s commitment to taking decisive actions aimed at ending the violence and restoring peace in Minna, where residents have recently experienced an alarming rise in thuggery, attacks, and killings, sparking widespread fear and unrest.
