COAS Issues 30-Day Deadline to Eliminate New Terrorist Threat in Kwara

General Oluyede issued this decisive order during his strategic visit to the Sobi Military Barracks in Ilorin, the state capital. He emphasized that the group’s presence in Kaiama and Baruten local government areas must be eradicated before they gain a foothold and spread to other regions.
According to the Army Chief, “We cannot allow another Boko Haram to rise in any part of Nigeria. I expect that within the next month, there should be no sign of these criminals in or around Kainji Dam or any part of Kwara.”
General Oluyede assured troops of full logistical and operational support, reinforcing the military’s commitment to safeguarding the country from emerging threats. He further noted that the situation in Kwara is isolated and manageable, and he expressed confidence in the army’s ability to deliver a swift and decisive blow to the terrorists.
Speaking to reporters, he stated, “This situation does not threaten national security in a broader sense—it’s local, and we’re addressing it head-on. Expect to see tangible results in a month.”
The directive marks a significant escalation in military efforts to prevent the formation of a new insurgency in Nigeria’s North Central region.
